JK Tyre prodigy Aditya Patel becomes the 1st Indian to reach the podium twice at the Buddh International Circuit during JK Racing Asia Series Round held as a support race to Formula1 Indian Grand Prix

In Round 11 of JK Racing Asia Series held at Buddh International Circuit on October 27, 2012, Afiq Ikhwan led the race, ahead of his compatriot Nabil Jeffri of Eurointernational while Aditya Patel made it to the third place with the fastest time of the day – 1:59.803. The second and final race of the JK Racing Asia series, proved to be an engaging one as local driver Aditya Patel managed to score his second podium finish of the weekend. Patel had started fourth on the grid but managed to outdrag third place starter and eventual race winner Aston Hare to the first corner.

The race weekend was historic in many ways, by finishing third on day one Patel became the first Indian to finish on the podium at the Buddh International Circuit and with a second position finish on day two; he became the first Indian driver to finish with a twin podium finish in the JK Racing Asia Series. Having returned to single-seater racing after a gap of four years, the victory marks a phenomenal return for the young racing driver. This performance clubbed with his exploits in the 24 Hours at Nurburgring in May this year has further cemented Patel as one of the best junior drivers in the world.
