JK Tyre JETRACING to speed up the 2nd T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship

New Delhi, India |March14, 2015: JK Tyre is all set to demonstrate its superiority of its products in the Indian motorsport arena yet again. JETRACING, the first-ever truck racing tyre in India from JK Tyre, was a major success when T1 Prima Truck made its Indian debut last year. Experts and international truck drivers swore by the “reliable” and “grippy” tyres from JK Tyre. The ultimate race of the giants will take place on 15th of March at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.

Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship was a major breakthrough in the Indian motorsport. JK Tyre was the proud partner and the specially developed racing tyre JETRACING performed its way to everyone’s mind. This year, the trucks are more aerodynamic and promise to be much faster than the first season.

Mr V K Misra, Technical Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. said- “Although we were excited to know that the PRIMA race truck are 10% faster with a speed of upto 130 km/h compared to 110 km/hr last year, we took it upon ourselves to develop higher specs tyres. The latest tyre has been developed using new design technique of ‘Tapered tread profile’ completed with ‘HE wire’ and ‘special wire wrap’, these tyres are capable to run upto a speed of 160 Km/hr.”

He added, “JETRACING tyre is an example of JK Tyre’s superior research and product development capabilities. Measuring at315/80R22.5, the tyre is designed with special low heat and high traction compound to meet the most gruelling braking conditions of a racing circuit.  With the second season of our partnership with T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship, we are confident the race drivers will enjoy pumping up the speeds.

With JETRACING, JK Tyre has reinforced its Truck Radial Technology and Motorsport leadership in India.

For a layman, two tyres may not make much difference but an expert knows how a small change in the design and compound of a racing tyre can change the course of a race. The difference between a usual road tyre and JETRACING tyre is that the contact patch of the latter is optimized to meet the unfathomable turning requirements of a racing circuit. Going deeper into the technicalities, the asymmetric tread pattern is designed for better handling on a dry pavement. It has asymmetric shoulder drop with a rounded outer shoulder for a balanced cornering and lateral stability. The shallow circumferential grooves with optimized groove sections provide the much needed excellent heat dissipation. The belt package is optimized in terms of lay and angle for excellent tread stiffness that enhances the steering and handling ability.

JK Tyre has been associated with Motorsports for almost three decades and has played a pivotal role in the evolution of motorsport in India. From the very beginning, JK Tyre has laid down a long-term and sustained approach to invest in motorsport as a route to brand building. It has invested over INR 100 crores (USD $ 16.67 Million) towards building infrastructure alone.

With a mission to take it to the masses, JK Tyre packaged and redesigned motorsport and not only made it affordable but also at par with international standards by investing in building world class infrastructure across the country. The company has invested in multiple grassroot motorsport properties and programmes. Its racing and karting programmes are the breeding ground for the country's young motorsport talent. ArmaanEbrahim, Aditya Patel and Karun Chandhok are some of the JK Tyre prodigies who have done India proud in the global arena.

The company’s involvement with motorsport was a perfect brand fit for leveraging JK Tyre as a brand and enhancing product superiority. It proved to be a testing ground for its own products and helped the company in continuously updating its products thereby supplementing ongoing R&D to meet the challenges of gruelling Indian conditions where terrain changes every 100 kilometres. The company started with rallying, and over the years has put a full-fledged program in place for motorsport enthusiasts.
